A lookup keeps coming back Unknown
Missing country or MCC data on the record.
An Unknown result isn't a risk verdict — it means Salescheck.io didn't have enough base data on the record to evaluate any rule. No rule ran, so nothing was flagged as safe or risky either way. For the full explanation of what Unknown does and doesn't mean, see Why a score comes back Unknown.
Likely causes
- The record is missing country, and/or MCC or NAICS — scoring needs at least one of these to run any rule.
- The data exists in your CRM, but Salescheck.io's field mapping is pointed at the wrong field, or at a field that's empty for this record.
- The record genuinely has no country or industry data anywhere — common for new or partially-filled-out records.
Check this
Look at the actual country and MCC/NAICS (or industry) values on the record in your CRM. If either field is blank, that's your answer — fill it in and let the record re-sync.
If the data is filled in on the record but the result is still Unknown, Salescheck.io is probably reading from the wrong place. Check CRM field mapping and confirm the country and industry mappings point at the fields your team actually uses.
Use the Score tester to manually enter the same country and MCC/NAICS values and run a lookup directly. If that comes back with a real result (Green, Yellow, or Red), the scoring logic itself is fine and the issue is upstream — missing data or a mapping problem on the CRM side.
