A provider API key stopped working

How to tell, and how to fix it.

OpenCorporates, Sanctions.io, ComplyAdvantage, and TRM Labs all use a bring-your-own-API-key model. Salescheck.io doesn't validate a key when you save it — it's only used at lookup time. That means a key going bad usually doesn't produce an error message anywhere in Salescheck.io.

There's no error banner or failed-lookup alert for this. A broken key just causes that one provider's check to be silently skipped on future lookups — everything else (country/MCC/NAICS rules, and any other connected providers) keeps working normally. See If a provider API key stops working for the full mechanics.

How this usually shows up

Instead of an error, you'll typically notice results seem to be missing a signal you expect — for example, sanctions-list hits or wallet-risk data you know should be there aren't showing up on any record, not just one.

How to check and fix it

1
Check the provider's own dashboard

Log in directly to the provider and check the key's status and quota. This confirms whether it's expired, revoked, or simply out of usage for the billing period — Salescheck.io has no visibility into any of that on its own.

2
Generate a fresh key

If it's expired or revoked, generate a new key or token from the provider's account settings.

3
Re-paste it on the Integrations page

In Salescheck.io, go to Integrations, find that provider's card, paste the new key into the API Key field, and click Connect to save it. The next lookup that touches this provider will use the updated key.
