If a provider API key stops working

That provider's check is skipped; rule-based scoring keeps working.

Salescheck.io doesn't verify a provider API key up front — it isn't checked until it's actually used for a lookup. If a key has expired, been revoked, or hit its quota, the lookup doesn't fail. Instead, that one provider's check is silently skipped for that lookup, and scoring continues using everything else that's available: your built-in country/MCC/NAICS rules and any other connected providers.

This is by design. A broken connection to one 3rd-party provider degrades gracefully — it never blocks or breaks the rest of a record's score.

How to fix it

1
Check the provider's own dashboard

Log in to the provider directly (OpenCorporates, Sanctions.io, ComplyAdvantage, or TRM Labs) and check your key's status and remaining quota. This is the fastest way to confirm whether the key expired, was revoked, or simply ran out of usage for the billing period.

2
Generate a new key if needed

If the key is expired or revoked, generate a new one from the provider's own account or API settings page. If it's a quota issue, you may just need to wait for the quota to reset or upgrade your plan with the provider.

3
Paste the updated key into Salescheck.io

In Salescheck.io, go to Integrations, find that provider's card, and paste the new key or token into the API Key field.

4
Reconnect

Click Connect to save the updated key. The next lookup that touches this provider will use it — there's no need to re-run or backfill past lookups.

Because keys aren't verified up front, a silently skipped provider check can go unnoticed for a while. If you rely on a particular provider for scoring, it's worth periodically checking that provider's dashboard for key or quota issues rather than waiting for something to look wrong in Salescheck.io.
